Paolina  beach

Elba's smallest, most intimate beach

The famous beach La Paolina is small but perfectly formed, with pebbles and sand: it was named La Paolina after Napoleon’s sister, who liked to spend time on this beach when she came to visit her exiled brother. It’s now an intimate port of call for yachts. One can swim or take a tender from the yacht to get to the islet of Paolina, which sits a few metres from the shore right opposite the beach. This place is certainly worth a visit: a sailing vacation lets you explore the most scenic places on the coastline, and the Isolotto della Paolina is one of them. Sailing by yacht is the only way to see the countless inlets, visible only from the sea.
